Tuscaloosa Tornado

4-27-11 Tornado Tuscaloosa, Al from Crimson Tide Productions on Vimeo.

Tuscaloosa’s tornado last week on April 27th, 2011 eclipses all the storms that came before it. The Weather Channel is calling it possibly “the most dangerous tornado on record.” The footage of the tornado and its aftermath is jaw-dropping. Tentatively labeled an EF5, it leveled a six-mile swath of the city, beginning on the outskirts at a roofing manufacturing company, brushing by the true heart of the city, (the Bryant-Denny Stadium), past the still-standing Druid City hospital, and out of town, where it destroyed a railroad trestle. Almost nothing stands in its path. This same tornado went on to level parts of Birmingham, large areas of Northeast Alabama, and finally hit south of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
