First Year

Today marks one year since four young men moved into our home, aka THREESIXTY HOUSE. This year has been such a learning experience for our family. We have learned what it is like to live multi-culturally, we have learned how other cultures eat, walk, talk and sleep, we have experienced how others worship our Lord, we have cried together, disagreed with one another, studied The Word of God together, been to the beach, lake and Six Flags together, we have fed and prayed with the homeless in downtown Birmingham together and the list goes on and on.

As our children grow, we teach them to share. I can remember learning to share (my room, candy, toys) with my brother and sister. I can remember learning to share (toys, colors) at Sunday School. I can remember learning to share (lockers, notes) at school. In American, we really haven't had to share our entire life or whole house and everything in it. We don't have to share our food because there isn't enough. We don't have to eat left-overs because there is more where that came from. Our family has learned to SHARE this past year. We know in our minds that EVERYTHING is God's and is to be shared, but we never really had to share it all. Have you ever shared everything? Think about this for a minute and I will share more in another post about the Word Everything!

I have learned that each and every one of us desires to be loved unconditionally.

Thank You Lord for the blessing of sharing life with others. Thank You for the lessons learned, a faith that has enlarged and the relationships that will last forever. Thank You for Your unconditional love for us and growing us for Your Glory.

and put our useless junk in the garage.

.....do they have drive-up ATM machines with Braille lettering.

EVER WONDER WHY

the sun lightens our hair, but darkens our skin?

women put on mascara with their mouth open?

Why don't you ever see the headline 'Psychic Wins Lottery'?

Why is it that doctors call what they do 'practice'?

Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor, and dishwashing liquid made with real lemons?

Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker?

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Why isn't there mouse-flavored cat food?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why do they sterilize the needle for lethal injections?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If con is the opposite of pro, is Congress the opposite of progress?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

We all need to smile every once in a while.

Sacrifice

God has taught me in the last year that everyone's heart is different - for good reason,

Radical doesn't look the same for each of us - He uses us for His glory,

and

Sacrifice must come from the heart and not be demanded.

Mission Opportunities

Everyday there are opportunities to help all around us. Some days we allow ourselves to see these opportunities and other days we shut our eyes. We shut our eyes because we are busy and our schedules are full. We shut our eyes because it hurts too much to look and we can't solve the issues. We shut our eyes because it might cost us something financially. We shut our eyes because someone else can take care of it.

Please pray for mission opportunities and follow your heart.

PillowCases!

Pillowcase dresses for Africa-God continues to put this project in my path.

God has provided several individuals who would like to sew these dresses for the orphans in Uganda and Sudan. The teams/ peeps are already scheduled to go to the orphanages,etc, now all we need are pillowcases (any size, any color or print), and 1 1/2 yards of ribbon per dress.

Can you donate a pair of pillowcases as we live out James 1:27 in caring for the widows and orphans? If so, please leave a comment where I can reach you to give you an address.

2 Choices

Basically we all have the same choice- to live a self centered life or to live a Christ centered life. There are no other choices.

When you choose the Christ centered life- you will find the world begins to lose its appeal. Because it is now Jesus, and what He wants, that becomes important in your life.

And this, will look a lot different than the self centered life.

So those around you will question you- because the choices you make, the lifestyle you live will not longer 'match up' with what the world says is good and with what the world says is popular.

And it will make people wonder.
